Freud e la psicologia delle masse oggi: psicoanalisi, politica e populismo nell’era della post-verità
Yannis Savrakakis
School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece (yanstavr@yahoo.co.uk; ORCID: 0000-0002-5682-7547).
Abstract: 2021 marks one century from the first publication of Mass Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego by Sigmund Freud. What has been the importance of this text for social and political inquiry diachronically? What is its relevance today? It is to these two questions that this text is devoted. Attention is first given to the broader choreography between psychoanalysis and socio-political inquiry. Focus is then directed to the way populism research in particular has benefited from the ensuing re-orientation. Debates … Continua a leggere

Populismo e post-verità. Oltre le affinità elettive
Matteo De Toffoli
Università degli Studi di Milano (matteo.detoffoli@unimi.it; OrCID: 0000- 0002-8696-0533).
Abstract: This article critically examines the alleged elective affinity between two widely employed terms in philosophy and social sciences: “populism” and “post-truth”. Although these concepts are often treated as near-synonyms, this study argues that their affinity or convergence is not inherent in the concepts themselves, but contingent on the specific conceptualizations developed over their history. Populism, despite its long and complex evolution, has acquired a predominantly negative connotation within the mid-20th-century pluralist canon, which framed it as a form of pathological otherness to democracy. … Continua a leggere

Quale scienza per quale popolo? L’esperienza del Comitato Tecnico Scientifico Popolare di Seveso (1976-1978)
Sara De Toni
Università di Roma La Sapienza (sara.detoni@uniroma1.it; ORCID: 0009-0006- 7075-0896).
Abstract: This contribution aims to explore the concepts of “popular science” through the historical experience of the Popular Technical-Scientific Committee (CTSP), established in the aftermath of the Icmesa disaster in Meda-Seveso on July 10, 1976. At the core of this analysis are the notions of the non-neutrality of science and the regime of truth: the former refers to the structural and social conditions shaping the production of scientific knowledge within capitalist societies, highlighting how science is embedded in material relations and historical determinations; … Continua a leggere

Il rifiuto della delega. Gruppi omogenei, validazione consensuale e contestazione del sapere esperto
Gianluca Pozzoni
Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (gianluca.pozzoni@unimib.it; ORCID: 0000- 0002-5304-2824).
Abstract: This article critically engages with contemporary debates on “medical populism” and the opposition between expert authority and popular irrationalism, arguing that such dichotomies obscure alternative modes of articulating expertise, power, and participation from below. The article reconstructs a historically situated form of bottom-up contestation of expert knowledge in the field of occupational health, focusing on the Italian workers’ movement of the 1960s and, in particular, on the principle of “non-delegation” in matters of workplace health and safety. Central to this experience was the idea that … Continua a leggere
